Jan and Helga specialised in making unique pieces, rather than production lines of identically shaped objects. All pieces have a subdued, matte finish, in a few carefully chosen colours. Some colours were discontinued earlier in their careers, such as the brown and black.

The types of pieces that you see on the shelf in the picture above include some characteristic shapes.

 

Availability

Jan and Helga are now retired. Items may be available for purchase from the Gallery of BC Ceramics (Vancouver, BC), Side Street Studio (Victoria, BC), or on the second hand market. jhgrove@shaw.ca.

Sgraffito items and decorated items such as the examples below tend to date from earlier in the Groves' career.They do, however, show up at art auctions and collectibles markets.
